As it is National Potato Day tomorrow Friday, October 2nd 2015 our 2nd, 3rd and 4th were invited to visit Griffin’s Potato Farm by our own Cian Griffin from 2nd class and his family.

The Griffin’s have been growing potatoes in Carrigaline, Co. Cork since the 1940s. The third generation family business takes great pride in growing and packing a wide variety of potatoes which are sold in shops and supermarkets throughout Munster.

In the county where it is said that Sir Walter Raleigh planted the first potatoes in Ireland  is one of Munster’s longest established and most respected potato producers, Griffin’s Potatoes. The Griffin family grows approximately 3,000 tonnes of quality potatoes annually on 200 acres.

In the glorious sunshine our children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were delighted when they were presented with their own bag of potatoes each to take home to carry on the celebrations.

Thanks so much to all on Griffin’s Potato Farm and a very happy National Potato Day to all.
